What are you grateful today?
Up until recently, when asked this question, I would pause for a bit and think about all of the wonderful gifts that life has brought me…what I thought of as the big gifts: family, friends, home, health, career.
Through learning opportunities, signs and messages, the angels are reminding me that gratitude is a practice, one that not only adds joy into my life but abundance as well.
Now this practice doesn’t come easily to me with my mind filled with reminders and to-do lists and a calendar jam packed with activities. I read recently that it is not about finding time, but rather about making time for gratitude. And that is my new motto…making time for gratitude, even putting sticky notes on my bedside table and mirror as reminders.
The real gift of gratitude is that the more grateful you are, the more present you become. Robert Holden
I am of course grateful for all things past, the gifts and challenges that have made me who I am today. And I am grateful for the anticipation of the future and all that is ahead. But I am learning to enjoy the present moments so much more and need to keep building on this practice.
Today, I am nearing the end of a 10 day vacation at the cottage with my mom. While the weather has not been ideal until the last few days, it has been a relaxing and restful vacation filled with sharing good food, hobbies, conversations, memories, chick flicks and so much more. And I am grateful, so very grateful.
Not only for the gift of this vacation with my mother but for the little things: sitting on the dock, catching up with the neighbours, meeting a friend in the village, sharing a glass of wine, hugging good night.
Of course it is much easier to be writing this post while on vacation at the cottage. It will be much more difficult to be grateful during challenging times. But I am sure that Archangel Metatron and my spiritual team along with my family and friends will offer the support that I need to remember the blessings and the learning that challenges bring.
Affirmation that I have created for myself:
I am grateful and committed to the present moment and this fills me with love and joy.
